Laird & Associates provides service to the international aviation
industry: Airports; Air Carriers; Governments and Manufacturers

Following are examples of aviation related projects Laird &
Associates has completed or has underway:
Government:
At the request of the Governor of Puerto Rico, Laird & Associates
conducted an FAA Vulnerability Study of the Luis Munoz Marin Airport
and coordinated the writing of the airport's Federal Aviation Administration
Action Plan. Laird & Associates acted as the FAA consortium
secretary.
Laird & Associates reviewed and assessed the sky marshal program
of a foreign country at the request of the Minister of Transportation.
We then updated the training curriculum of the country's sky marshal
training program.
Laird & Associates teamed with Science Applications International
Corporation (SAIC) to win a contract for the FAA's Airport Vulnerability
Assessment program. Our team conduts VA surveys of the Miami International
Airport and the Jacksonville International Airport.
Airport:
Laird & Associates studied the security implications surrounding
the transportation of passengers from cruise ships and/or hotels
to the airport and the acceptance of checked luggage. Recommendations
were made to alleviate security problems and implement the FAA's
over-water security directive while improving the processing of
passengers and luggage.
Air carrier:
Laird & Associates conducted a review of the screening checkpoint
(human factors and equipment) at Orlando International Airport for
USAirways, Inc. Our recommendations included drafting specifications
for metal-detectors and x-ray machines suggesting the arrangement
of security equipment to
promote efficiency;
Laird & Associates conducted security reviews of Trans World
Airways European Stations following the TWA #800 incident;
Laird & Associates conducted security reviews for USAirways,
Inc. at: Paris, Madrid, Rome, Munich and Frankfurt following the
TWA #800 incident;
Industry:
Laird & Associates principals make presentations to House and
Senate Aviation staff, industry/trade groups, foreign government
regulatory authorities, on the probability of detection for several
manufacturers of aviation related security equipment.
Laird & Associates provides operational security perspectives/reviews
to Honeywell for its participation in the Federal Aviation Administration
funded Safe Skies Initiative program.
Laird & Associates surveyed fifty-three (53) Dobbs® INTERNATIONAL
SERVICES flight kitchens and assisted the company to establish a
security baseline. Laird & Associates designed a Security Coordinator
position for all Dobbs® flight kitchens and presented a train-the-trainer
program which included a recurrent training curriculum.
